At Next Stage ‘A Way Forward’, we believe in a holistic approach when it comes to the people we support. We know there is no one-size-fits all solution when working with people. Each individual we support has their own unique care and support needs. We put together bespoke support packages with the intention of meeting those needs on a personal basis.
Of the various services we provide, the most popular are supported living and Support in the Community.

Our supported living model enables people to live safely in their own homes with a structured plan of care and support that meets their individual needs. For people with low-level needs, this could be anything from a few hours assistance each week from one of our staff while, for those with more complex needs, a more intensive support package would be required.
Care and support can be provided in a number of settings. These include shared housing and individual tenancies, as well as fully purpose-built apartment schemes.
Where we are able to promote greater independence, we support our people with the use of assistive technology that can help them with certain aspects of their independent living. This could be monitoring, safety, and communication, or simply to provide appropriate reminders and prompts.
We recognise the importance of people to be able to do things for themselves and we work hard to promote this, wherever possible. We help the people we support to be involved in everyday decisions and to take part in local social and leisure activities. We also enable positive risk-taking in a safe and secure way.
We are able to support people in their own homes at various times throughout the day to meet their needs. We are committed to empowering people to make their own choices and to live as independently as possible. Our Support Workers help them to do this, popping in at regular intervals to make sure they are safe, happy and healthy.

Next Stage A Way Forward
We put people at the centre of everything we do. Every person we support has their own needs and personality, and our responsibilities reflect that.
Health and Well-being
We support people to make positive choices about eating well, taking exercise, and maintaining good hygiene. This takes the form of practical advice and assistance, as well as providing emotional support and personal care.
Meaningful Occupation
We know that the people we support want to stay happy and healthy, which is why we help and encourage them to get involved in their local communities. Every person is different – while some want a relaxing walk in the park, others want to attend a yoga class; while some want to sit down for a coffee and a chat, others want to do painting. Whatever activities they enjoy, our support team will get stuck in and help them make the most of it.
Daily Living Skills
Everyday tasks that we take for granted can prove challenging for people who use our services. This includes things like paying bills, attending appointments, shopping, cooking, and cleaning. Our team of support workers are on hand to support and encourage them whenever needed.
Protecting Personal Rights
People that use our services can be vulnerable to abuse or exploitation. Our support teams make sure that their rights are upheld and that they are being treated with consideration and respect at all times.
Administrative Work
Looking after the people we support involves a lot of admin work. We maintain detailed and accurate records that cover a range of factors including the dispensing of medication. All records are confidential and recording and reports are conducted in line with current legislation and care service regulations.

“Helping people reach their goals isn’t just part of the job, it’s what makes us love coming to work. We’re lucky to be a part of someone’s journey, supporting them through the tough times and cheering them on in their achievments.”
